Founded in 1952 as China's first higher educational institution dedicated to chemical engineering, East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) is widely renowned as the cradle of the nation's chemical engineers. Today it ranks among the world's leading chemistry-focused universities, with 12 disciplines in the ESI global top 1% — including Chemistry, Engineering and Materials Science in the top 1‰.
Its Chemical Engineering program was the first in mainland China to receive ABET accreditation, and three disciplines are included in China's "Double First-Class" initiative. In the Nature Index Research Output Ranking 2024, ECUST placed 85th worldwide. The University hosts joint research centers led by Nobel Laureate Professor Bernard Feringa and partners with more than 200 universities and research institutions across the globe.
For over seven decades, ECUST has been dedicated to educating future generations with interdisciplinary knowledge and a global perspective, and remains committed to advancing scientific innovation and contributing to a shared future for mankind.

Nature Chemical Engineering is a new monthly online journal, debuting in January 2024, dedicated to publishing the most significant original research, commentary and analysis of direct relevance to the diverse community of chemical engineers in both academia and industry.
Nature Chemical Engineering is a new monthly online journal dedicated to publishing the most significant original research, commentary and analysis of direct relevance to the diverse community of chemical engineers. The journal will highlight all facets of chemical engineering: from fundamental scientific advances in chemical, physical and biological systems to the design, scale-up and optimization of chemical processes of importance to society.

Nature Chemistry is a monthly journal dedicated to publishing high-quality papers that describe the most significant and cutting-edge research in all areas of chemistry. As well as reflecting the traditional core subjects of analytical, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, the journal also features a broad range of chemical research including, but not limited to, catalysis, computational and theoretical chemistry, environmental chemistry, green chemistry, medicinal chemistry, nuclear chemistry, polymer chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and surface chemistry. Other cross-disciplinary topics such as bioinorganic, bioorganic, organometallic and physical–organic chemistry will also be featured. The submission of manuscripts detailing multidisciplinary research performed at the interface of chemistry and other scientific fields of inquiry such as biology, materials science, nanotechnology and physics is also encouraged, where the central theme of the work — and the major advances that are reported — fall within the bounds of chemistry.
In addition to primary research, Nature Chemistry also publishes review articles, news and views, research highlights about important work reported in other journals, commentaries, book reviews, correspondence, and analysis of the broader chemical picture beyond the laboratory — including issues such as education, funding, policy, intellectual property, and the impact chemistry has on society. In this way, the journal aims to be the voice of the worldwide chemical community.
Nature Chemistry is committed to publishing top-tier original research in all areas of chemistry through a fair and rigorous review process. It offers authors high visibility for their papers, access to a broad readership, high standards of copy editing and production, rapid publication and independence from academic societies and others with vested interests.

Nature Materials is a monthly multi-disciplinary journal aimed at bringing together cutting-edge research across the entire spectrum of materials science and engineering. Materials research is a diverse and fast-growing discipline, which has moved from a largely applied, engineering focus to a position where it has an increasing impact on other classical disciplines such as physics, chemistry and biology. Nature Materials covers all applied and fundamental aspects of the synthesis/processing, structure/composition, properties and performance of materials, where "materials" are identified as substances in the condensed states (liquid, solid, colloidal) designed or manipulated for technological ends.
Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering is an online-only journal aiming to cover the breadth and depth of modern electrical engineering and electronics by publishing timely and accessible top-quality Reviews, Perspectives and Comments encompassing every aspect of electronics, photonics, power and energy, control systems, signal processing and telecommunication engineering.

Nature Synthesis is a new online journal, launched in January 2022. The journal is interested in all aspects of synthesis, from making discrete molecules to extended materials, as well as technological innovations leading to significant advances in synthetic methods and processes.
Nature Synthesis aims to bring together researchers from all areas of chemical and materials synthesis, publishing work based on organic, inorganic, organometallic and materials chemistry, as well as interdisciplinary studies at the interfaces between these disciplines. The journal will focus on the development of new synthetic methods and approaches, together with the preparation of molecular- or materials-based products that have practical value in research and society or extend our conceptual understanding of chemical or material systems.
