Advanced Innovation Center for Integrated Circuits Initiated by Tsinghua University, the first phase of the AICIC was formerly known as Beijing Innovation Center for Future Chips (“ICFC”) and was among the first batch of “High-Precision Innovation Centers of Beijing Universities” endorsed by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission in October 2015. Beijing Innovation Center for Future Chips leveraged on Tsinghua University’s strength as a multidisciplinary institution, to explore interdisciplinary integrated research methodologies. There were significant breakthroughs ranging from frontier fundamental research to applied research, in domains such as advanced memory technology, artificial intelligence chips and MEMS sensors. This incubated a number of innovative chip enterprises in Beijing, cementing the research foundation and talent pool for the subsequent establishment of Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Integrated Circuits. |
