Nanjing University Nanjing University (NJU), established in 1902 in the historic city of Nanjing, has been a cornerstone of higher education in China for over 120 years. As one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious universities, NJU consistently ranks among the top institutions in China and is recognized globally for its excellence in cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary collaboration aimed at addressing global challenges. Nanjing University is particularly renowned for its fundamental research in fields such as astronomy, geology, atmospheric sciences, physics, chemistry, and computer science. As one of the earliest institutions in China to establish a physics discipline, NJU has accumulated profound research experience in the field of physics since its establishment. Over the past century, NJU has not only cultivated a large number of outstanding physicists but also achieved numerous internationally influential scientific research results in basic physical theory research and applied technology development. These achievements cover multiple important directions such as quantum physics, condensed matter physics, and astrophysics, making indelible contributions to the development of physics in China and even the world. In recent years, with the rapid development of science and technology, interdisciplinary research has gradually become an important approach to solving complex scientific problems. In the field of advanced manufacturing, NJU has jointly conducted atomic-level manufacturing research by integrating physics, chemistry, mechanics, materials science, and engineering, thereby developing new materials and devices with superior performance and exploring new manufacturing methods. Meanwhile, NJU has begun to plan and construct major scientific and technological infrastructure in the field of atomic-level manufacturing. It has already initiated pre-research on related technologies and has received high attention and support from local governments such as Jiangsu Province. In addition, NJU has launched a university-wide "AI for Science" program, aiming to explore new research methods by leveraging the technological revolution brought about by artificial intelligence. |
